History of Copper/Silver ionization
Archaeological excavations show that people have been using copper for more than 11,000 years and have been using silver for more than 5,000 years.
Both copper and silver have been used for centuries for their biocidal attributes. The Vikings used copper strings on their ships to prevent the growth of algae and shells. Modern ships still use the same technology. Most anti-fouling paints contain copper - reducing the number of marine species growing on the walls of ships.
Because of this measure, ships can reach their destination faster.
Nomads used silver coins to improve drinking water quality. Well water containing copper and silver coins is very bright, due to the biocidal effect of these metals.
Since 1869 various publications have appeared on the disinfection properties of silver. Some European and Russian villages have been using silver for drinking water treatment for many years.
Copper-silver ionization was developed in both Europe and the United States in the 1950's.
Silver is used in medicine as an anti-microbial. Colloidal silver apparently also has germ-killing benefits, but no studies have been done to prove it.

How Does Colloidal Silver Work?
Silver works as an anti-microbial. This means it kills germs such as bacteria, fungus, and viruses. It is used in the medical field as an antiseptic. The silver is used topically to clean wound sites. It is used increasingly in wound dressings, because silver has been shown to be effective against highly resistant germs such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aurea (MRSA).Silver is used as a disinfectant in catheter tubes to reduce infections and in tracheal tubes to help reduce the incidence of pneumonia.
Colloidal silver works in much the same way. It is silver bound in a liquid suspension, and either applied topically or taken internally. Although no efficacy studies have been done to scientifically support the benefits of the internal consumption of colloidal silver, the product maintains a very loyal customer base which is full of user testimonies and anecdotes in support of colloidal silver.
What Are the Benefits of Using Colloidal Silver?
According to Dr. Ray Sahelian, M.D., colloidal silver has been used effectively as eye drops to treat conjuctivitis (pink eye), and to reduce sore throat pain in pharyngitis. He also believes that colloidal silver may be an effective anti-viral and may be able to be beneficial in the treatment of mild infections.
Some silver manufacturers claim that colloidal silver is a cure-all. These marketers claim that colloidal silver is the answer to AIDS, herpes, cancer, and a host of other serious diseases. The problem, according to the Mayo Clinic, is that there are presently no scientific studies to support these claims. In fact, the FDA has taken action against some colloidal silver manufacturers. While customer testimonies continue to pour in about the benefits seen from colloidal silver, these testimonies and claims have not been clinically proven. Therefore, the federal government says that these claims may not be published.

Hoe werkt het?
Zilver doodt de bacteriën. Twee electrodes waarvan een uit titanium en een andere uit een legering van koper en zilver zijn samengevoegd in een electrodecel. Deze electrodecel is in de steriel water circuit ingebouwd. Indien er water door de electrolysecel vloeit, waarop een DC-stroom gestoken wordt, worden er zilver/koperionen in oplossing gebracht in het water.
Het water dat moet gedesinfecteerd worden vloeit langs de electrolyse-electrodes. De positief opgeladen ionen zetten zich vast aan de negatief opgeladen celwanden van de bacteriën. Dit fenomeen verstoort de celstructuur en belet de adsorptie van voedingsstoffen. Hierdoor sterven de bacteriën.
Dit is geen neutraal water meer, maar water met anti-bacteriële eigenschappen. Het is geen antibiotica, maar het werkt wel anti-bacterieel.
